A KIND hearted Northwich boy is going the extra mile with a marathon effort to help raise awareness of homelessness.

Harry Kettle, who lives in Davenham, is only seven, but he has demonstrated that age is no barrier when it comes to showing empathy and care for your fellow human beings.

His mum Beckie explained how it was on a recent trip to Blackpool to see the illuminations, that Harry noticed people sleeping rough on the streets.

"He was asking us lots of questions about it and one night when he went to bed, got really upset," the mother of two explained.

"We told him that although it was really sad, he should use his energy to do something positive.

"He had a think about it and decided he wanted to do something to help and found the charity Shelter after getting help from his teacher."

A pupil at Davenham Primary School, Harry set up a Just Giving page with the idea to run about a mile each day for 26 days to raise money for the charity.

Beckie added: "He's always been a very active boy.

"He had it in his head that he wanted to raise £100 as to a seven-year-old that probably seems like a lot of money.

"But after only completing four runs so far, he's now raised just under £700, which is amazing.

"We're just all so proud of him not only for having the desire to help people but for sticking to it."

Harry has been running a round trip to and from his school every night, being joined by his mum and dad David, and has even earned the ultimate praise for his fitness-based fundraising efforts.

"He's doing it every single night during November," Beckie said.

"It's been fun, because he's had a few people waving at him.

"Shelter have been great too and they're going to send him some branded clothing to run in.

"And then Joe Wicks re-tweeted the link to Harry's Just Giving page, wishing him luck and called him a hero.

"He couldn't believe it because he did the Joe Wicks workouts during lockdown."
