WHEN J.K. Rowling sat down to write that first Harry Potter book, she couldn’t possibly have imagined it would have gone on to be the cultural phenomenon it has.
The book became a series of seven, selling hundreds of millions of copies worldwide, which in turn led to the movies, the theme parks, the stage shows, the spin offs – and now, an amazing woodland adventure trail that brings the wonderful world of Harry Potter to life right here in rural Cheshire.
When Arley Hall announced the Harry Potter – Forbidden Forest Experience, it caused quite the stir.
Set within the historic woodland on the sprawling estate, the magic and excitement begins to build on the walk down from the carpark.
The trail is an absolute feast for the ears and the eyes, with the beautiful, but spookily-lit forest being matched perfectly with the sound effects.
The expertly executed effects come from every possible angle too, providing for a truly immersive experience.
From the moment Hagrid and his dog Fang make an early appearance, there is no mistaking you have been truly transported into the world of Harry Potter.
There are Nifflers, a Hippogriff and if you’re scared of spiders, beware of Aragog’s lair, which provided the biggest scream of the night.
The effects are simply stunning, with the experience even providing you with the opportunity to cast your very own Patronus – but only if you can think of happy thoughts.
