AFTER 18 months out of the game, Winsford Roller Disco returns to the town this weekend.
Having been a weekly occurrence on Friday's since 2017 and popular with residents, they have found the last year and a half tough, but cannot wait to get back skating now on Saturday's.
“It’s massively special to us to get back,” said owner Korby Sangha.
“If Covid would have gone on another year, I don’t know whether we could have held out that long so we’ve tried to keep ticking over so that we could come back.
“It’s been tough, very tough.
“We’ve missed it massively. I’ve had so many messages from people asking when are we reopening.”
Korby, owner of the business, started it in Macclesfield in 2007 and now has nine venues.
“It was massively popular pre-Covid. The kids used to absolutely love it. Kids can do it, adults can as well.
“I’ve been skating for over 25 years and I don’t think I’ve ever gone through a period like Covid where I haven’t skated for that long.
“Winsford will be the fourth one that will reopen so far after Covid.
“I think it will take us a year before we get everything back to where it was pre-Covid.”
The classes will run from 5pm – 6.15pm and 6.30pm – 7.45pm. The earlier classes are usually for beginners and improvers, with the later classes tending to appeal to the more confident skates.
Korby, 44, continued: “I think its popular because the staff are quite interactive.”
“We are getting some regulars that are coming back, but a lot of it seems to be new people. We will see how it goes as the weeks go on.”
There is a capacity of 60. It will be ticketed and if there is any space drop-ins are welcome. Tickets can be bought here.
