THE twenty winners of the Picture Northwich photography competition have been selected, beating hundreds of entries to be included in the Barons Quay 5th Birthday Time Capsule album.

The Picture Northwich competition was launched last month and asked local people to submit their photos showing life in the town for a chance to be part of the Barons Quay Time Capsule commemorating the centre’s 5th birthday.

Over 200 images were submitted via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Local photographer, Brian Jenkins and Barons Quay Centre Manager Lina Higuita, selected the following images:

• Mark Powell from Northwich - Barons Quay

• Dan Jordan from Northwich - Burdette’s Barbers and Northwich Viaduct

• Rachel Waterman from Northwich - The Penny Black in Northwich

• Jessica Martin from Northwich - The Flashes in Northwich

• Donna Burston from Northwich - Thomas Burston skateboarding at Barons Quay

• Danny Blunt from Northwich - Weaver Square and The Plaza

• Sarah Cousins from Northwich - Barnton Bridge, taken during the floods of 2020

• Daniel Neilson from Winsford - Outside the library

• Michelle Roberts from Northwich - Along the River Dane

• Janet Rourke from Wincham - Boat moored in the River Weaver for over 17 years

• Paul Morgan from Goostrey - Odeon Barons Quay

• Luke Evans from Weaverham - Railway Arches and The Temple

• Garry Deavall from Northwich - Town Bridge and Rowing boats taken overhead using a drone

• Katie Bithel from Cuddington - Action Bridge

• Sarah Jane Jones from Comberbatch - Firthfield Pet Store

The judges overall favourite was Katie Bithel's photograph, the image of Acton Bridge will feature on the cover of the Time Capsule album plus the talented photographer won a £50 gift card for The Coffee House, courtesy of Barons Quay.

All 20 images will go on display at Barons Quay as part of the Time Capsule exhibition ahead of the contents being buried in November.

Barons Quay Centre Manager, Lina Higuita said: "The standard of entries was very high and we did struggle to shortlist the final 20.

"The winning images are a good representation of the town showing its green spaces, iconic landmarks and elements of the local community.

"They provide a visual insight into 2021 life, capturing this moment in time for future generations to reflect on.

Professional photographer and judge Brian Jenkins said: "The photographer Katie Bithel also known as @hellomissykitty on Instagram has captured a unique and eye catching image of Acton Bridge at sunset, using strong leading lines to draw you in and ensuring that there was enough balance in the light to prevent overexposing the image.

"I think everyone will agree that it is a worthy winner."
