Fifth and final article in the series charting golfing success in the area during the 2021 summer...
LAST year at Helsby Golf Club Aaron Mohun of Delamere Forest Golf Club put down a marker.
He became one of the youngest ever winners of both the Champions and under 14s trophies at the age of 13 in the Cheshire Junior under 14s and under 16s Championship.
This year he enjoyed success again.
Ringway were excellent host for the competition with a fine and challenging course backed by the usual excellent hospitality and help from the host club staff and members.
The weather stayed fine throughout the competition with a gusty wind adding an excellent challenge.
Aaron, playing off five handicap, was able to complete his trophy double with a best gross of the day of 72 that left him two shots clear of Spencer Davies (Wallasey) and Cole Self (Ringway) with a new double record that will take some beating in future years.
The best nett prize was taken by Sandiway’s Murray Craig who posted 78-10=68.
