MEMBERS of the armed forces are being reminded help is available if they are struggling due to the situation in Afghanistan.

Two decades of engagement in the country by British troops came to an end last weekend as the final members of UK military and diplomatic personnel left Kabul airport on Saturday night.

More than 1,000 troops, diplomats and officials had been dispatched to rescue UK nationals and Afghan allies after the seizure of the country's capital by the Taliban.

Now, the Northwich branch of the Royal British Legion has appealed for any serving or ex-serving veterans in and around the town to get in touch if they need help or support.

Branch chairman Marshall Hunter said: "Northwich Royal British Legion wishes to reach out to any of our serving or ex-serving veterans who maybe going through a tough time brought on by the ongoing Afghanistan situation.

"It is very important they know that help is only a phone call away and they must not suffer in silence.

"We’re dedicated to supporting not only serving and ex-serving personnel but the whole of the armed forces community.
