A FURTHER 100 people have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 in the UK as of today (August 27), bringing the UK total to 132,243.
Meanwhile, more than 350 new Covid-19 cases have been reported across Mid Cheshire during the latest 24-hour period.
A total of 352 people have tested positive, according to the latest figures from Public Health England – this is down from 393 cases recorded yesterday (August 26).
This is made up of 176 new cases in Cheshire West and Chester and 176 cases in Cheshire East.
The total number of cases in both boroughs now stands at 33,486 in Cheshire West and 33,461 in Cheshire East.
The latest update means there have now been 1,072 cases in the last seven days in Cheshire West, giving the borough a seven-day case rate of 311.8 per 100,000 people.
There have been 1,062 cases in Cheshire East over the last week, meaning the borough's seven-day case rate is now 274.7 per 100,000.
Nationally there were 234,546 new Covid-19 cases across the UK in this same period.
Government data up to August 26 shows that of the 90,295,121 Covid jabs given in the UK, 47,915,768 were first doses, a rise of 55,140 on the previous day.
Some 42,379,353 were second doses, an increase of 144,936.
