MORE than 30 per cent of Cheshire patients are getting a GP appointment on the same day they enquired for one, according to the GP Patient Survey.
This is an independent survey sent out to more than two million people across the UK, with the results showing how people feel about their GP practice.
The data for the Cheshire CCG area shows that 36 per cent of patients receive a GP appointment on the same day of enquiring, 13 per cent the next day, and 27 per cent 'a few' days later.
Meanwhile, 16 per cent of patients said they had to wait a week or more, while seven per cent of those surveyed could not remember.
These figures all closely follow the national trends.
For those patients who did not get an appointment after enquiring, the most popular reason was because no appointment was offered (34 per cent).
Other reasons included there being no appointment available for the day or time wanted (21 per cent), 'other' (20 per cent), the GP practice not offering the option to book ahead (18 per cent) and the practice helping in another way (16 per cent).
Again, these figures all closely follow the national data.
