EXCITEMENT is mounting as a celebration of vintage vehicles finally takes off after being postponed due to the pandemic.

Middlewich Classic Car and Bike Show attracts thousands of visitors and supports local charities.

The annual event returns to Harbutts Field on King Street, Middlewich, on the weekend of October 2 and 3 from 10am to 5pm.

Stephen Dent, who is co-ordinating the event, said: "I am excited. We are all looking forward to the show.

"It is free to get in, we just ask people to donate to the three charities we support.

"There are lots of enthusiasts out there. It is a Cheshire show but we usually attract visitors from the whole of Cheshire and as further afield from north Manchester and Blackpool.

"We hope Middlewich people will come out and support it."

Three community groups have teamed up to run the show, which, in the past was run by Middlewich Town Council for around 15 years.

Beartown Classic Car Club is the main sponsor with support from M6 Junction 16 Motoring Club and members of the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club.

The show will be raising funds for North West Air Ambulance Charity , Prostate Cancer UK and Donna Louise Children's Hospice.

"The idea is to raise as much money as we can for charity," said Stephen, who hopes to show some of his classic four cars including a 1964 MGB Roadster, 1972 MGB GT, 1990 MG RV8 prototype and 1992 Porsche 944 S2.

"Our sponsors have been generous and pay for all the actual costs of holding the event such as toilets and insurance.

"All we need now is good weather."
