THIS is the number of new Covid-19 cases reported across Mid Cheshire during a 24-hour period.
A total of 258 people tested positive for the virus in the 24 hours up to 4pm today, Tuesday, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.
This is made up of 128 new cases in Cheshire West and Chester and 130 cases in Cheshire East.
The total number of cases in both boroughs now stands at 33,001 in Cheshire West and 32,891 in Cheshire East.
Nationally, the total number of coronavirus cases recorded since the start of the pandemic is 6,555,200.
The latest update means there have now been 1,041 cases in the last seven days in Cheshire West, giving the borough a seven-day case rate of 302.8 per 100,000.
There have been 1,057 cases in Cheshire East over the last week, meaning the borough's seven-day case rate is now 273.4 per 100,000.
Nationally there were 224,316 new Covid-19 cases recorded across the UK.
The Government said a further 174 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Tuesday.
This brings the total number of deaths from the virus in the UK to 131,854.
It is the highest reported daily death toll since March 12, but these figures are likely to include a lag in reporting over the weekend.
Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 156,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
