THE search is on to find a new subpostmaster for Cuddington Post Office - or else it faces being closed permanently.
The post office on Trickett Lane will close temporarily anyway on Feburary 9 if no-one can be found to take over the running of it because the current subpostmaster Robert Dickenson is retiring after 20 years.
Mr Dickenson had delayed his retirement, which he announced at the beginning of last year to see whether the Post Office is on the the Government's hit list for closure.
Post Office Ltd has moved to allay fears the branch will be closed permanently.
Spokeswoman Jeanette Donovan said: "We are keen to maintain services in the Cuddington area and would welcome any applications from potential retail partners interested in running the branch."
Anyone who is interested in the vacancy can contact the Post Office's recruitment team on 0845 601 6260.
