A WINCHAM schoolboy has come top of the class in a children's gingerbread colouring competition.
Seven-year-old Alex Mollard, who attends Wincham Primary School, won the ages six-to-11 category in the Frank Roberts Bakery competition.
Alex had his winning design made into a real gingerbread man.
A spokesman for the Rudheath bakery said: "The judging proved incredibly difficult with some really imaginative and detailed entries.
"A team of judges worked through them until we had the final six and everyone agreed they looked amazing when they were decorated."
Winner of the five and under group was three-year-old Charlotte Tims from Bexton Nursery, and runners up were Daniel Barnes, from Lostock Primary School, and Hannah Deakin, from Rudheath Primary School.
The competition was run via the Frank Roberts website and attracted more than 100 entries from schools all over mid Cheshire.
The winning designs and two runners up per age group were made into real biscuits and decorated as prizes.
Each of the six children received a goody bag and the two winners got a gingerbread hamper for their school.
