A POPULAR TV weatherman made plenty of friends as he visited Northwich on Thursday (August 5).
BBC Northwest Tonight forecaster Owain Wyn Evans was in town filming his 'Golden Pin' segment for the show.
After the pin landed on Northwich last week, the snazzy-dressed presenter took to social media to ask for ideas on what places he should visit along the way.
Sisters Bev McGrath and Vickkie, who run The Wow Shop on Market Street, decided to mark the occasion by making a balloon version of the star.
Bev said: "I made the balloon version and we got in touch with the programme to tell them about it.
"We didn't hear anything back, other than getting an automated response, so that would be it.
"Owain then shared a copy of the photo on his Instagram over the weekend, but then on Thursday, we got a knock on the door from the Producer asking if they could come in.
"He was just lovely, very much as he comes across on the tv.
"He ended up spending much longer here than intended and had a coffee with us in the bar downstairs (Grape and Bean).
"Chatting to him, he felt like the kind of person you'd known your whole life.
"He was just very approachable and spent lots of time chatting to people outside too.
"He seemed genuinely happy to be here and was really complimentary about the town."
As for the balloon version of Owain, he remains in the shop, after the weatherman said he wouldn't be able to fit it in his car.
"It's made up by about 30 balloons, so it's not as many as you'd think," Bev added.
"Obviously the face is more detailed, but it's just the way you twist and tie them."
Owain began his day on the patch by visiting Cheshire Alpacas in Antrobus, where he fed the adorable animals some lunch.
His last visit of the day was to one of the town's most popular venues, The Salty Dog, where the talented drummer was keen to learn about the live music scene - he even got to demonstrate his skills on the house drumkit.
Owner Chris Mundie said the visit was totally unexpected, and he had been on his way out when the presenter arrived.
He said: "He was a really nice guy and seemed genuinely interested in what we did here.
"He said he'd had a good look round Northwich and was impressed with the town and the friendliness of the people who live here.
"He was pretty keen to jump on the drums too and definitely had the chops to back it up, a proper player."
Owain finished the day by doing what he does best - the weather forecast - which he delivered live from Northwich Quay Marina.
Sadly, the brightness he brought to the town could not be maintained as he delivered a rather rain-sodden outlook for the next couple of days.
