ALL lanes have reopened but delays remain on the M56 this afternoon, Friday.

This comes after a two-vehicle crash involving a car and a van.

The accident occurred on the westbound carriageway between junction 11 for the A56 Chester Road at Preston Brook and junction 12 for the A557 for Runcorn.

At its height, congestion was ‘severe’, with delays of around an hour and 10 minutes stretching back to junction 12 for Stretton.

Travel time is now said to be around 25 minutes.

Lanes two and three of three were closed.
