A POLICE helicopter helped to search for a runaway who fled the scene of a crash.
The A49 was closed in both directions following a collision involving a silver Peugeot 207 and a blue Volkswagen Golf in Weaverham shortly before 11pm last night.
Two people were injured and taken to hospital for treatment. Both casualties have since been discharged.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said:"One person was believed to have made off from the scene so the police helicopter attended to conduct a search of the area but there was no trace of the suspect.

"The A49 was closed in both directions while officers dealt with the incident."
A 42-year-old local man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving, although he was subsequently released without charge.
