A MEMBER of the public detained a speeding driver, who was more than five times over the drink drive limit, just off the M6 in Cheshire.
The North West Motorway Police thanked the public for their efforts in detaining the man until officers were able to arrive at the scene, where they made an arrest.
Police say two members of the public rang 999 to report the male for driving in excess of 100mph by junction 18 of the busy motorway on Wednesday, July 28.
When police arrived, the man and his now stationary vehicle were located just off the junction for Northwich, Middlewich.and Holmes Chapel.
Having already been detained by a member of the public, the driver provided officers with a positive breath test, which gave a road side reading 179 - with the legal limit being 35mg/100ml.
A HUGE thank you to both member of the public who rang in regarding a driver described excess speed 100mph on the M6 J18.
