THE NHS staff’s three per cent pay rise has been a big talking point this week.
And residents of Northwich have had their say.
The majority feel that staff should have received more, whereas others feel they are lucky to have been provided with a rise in a year where many have lost their jobs.
Donna Kohut made her feelings clear.
She said: “An absolute insult to everyone who works for the NHS! What more can be expected from such a treacherous government.”
Warren Joseph added: "It’s a joke. They have worked incredibly hard. Some will never be the same again after the trauma they have experienced. How about they get the same pay rise MPs have seen fit to award themselves over the last 18 months? That would seem a little fairer."
A number of readers also used words like ‘disgusting’, ‘derisory’, ‘disgraceful’ and ‘shocking’ to describe it.
Another reader in Patricia Law said: “Disgusting they deserve a lot more. They put their own lives in danger every day."
Chris Crawford also said: “They are deserving of a lot more than that,” with Paul Phipps adding that it should be 30 per cent."
Not everyone was as vocal in their frustrations about it.
One reader said: “The Armed Forces got nothing for 21/22 after a two per cent pay rise the year before. Three per cent isn't a bad deal considering
And Jonny said: "Three per cent is three per cent more than the vast majority. That's if they've been lucky enough to keep their jobs."
Susan Girling also said: "I was made redundant, at least they still have a job."
