WHETHER you believe in UFOs or not, potential sightings are one of those things you cannot keep your eyes away from.
So, as it is World UFO Day, what better way to celebrate it than rounding up some of the reported sightings over the years across Cheshire, as per UFO stalker.
Winsford – 1996
The earliest report of the lot dates back to February 1996 on Bradford Road, just after Wades Lane. Ten seconds of hovering then directional change occurred according to the potential sighting.
“I thought it was a projection from the ground pointing up, however, I saw no light source and it moved fast and random from left to right up and down. it spun anti-clockwise, vanished and reappeared in the same place,” a summary of the report read.
“I was driving about 20mph on a quiet straight road and saw it clearly shoot off in the north west direction heading towards Warrington, Cheshire.
“At approximately 40 miles the sky was bright with high thin cloud ripples above it (possibly a full moon). It had triangular-shaped ambient lights underneath (like a lightbox) . I was laughed at when I returned to the office. but I know I saw something I could not explain.”
Winsford – 2008
Before Bradford Road, this time on New Road in June 2008, a report was logged about someone witnessing large square lights that hovered in the air.
“Between 19:30 and 19:40 ish, I was travelling along the A54 Chester Road, south of Marton, just after the last roundabout as you leave Winsford,” they said.
“On my right-hand side was a pair of fairly large 'square' lights, with the distance of a 'square' between them.
“It seemed to be hovering, it was there for about 15-20 seconds (I was driving at the time). Although heading into dusk it was still relatively light.”
Winsford – 2015
On Crook Lane in Winsford in June 2015, there was reportedly two silver balls that were hovering at the same height, before moving on its way.
“We live not far from Manchester Airport about half an hour’s drive and occasionally get air traffic passing overhead on route to land at Manchester Airport. I heard what sounded like a large jet gaining altitude, and was curious as we normally just get them going into land at about a 1000 feet or so. So I was looking for the source of the noise, and couldn't see due to patchy cloud, then I noticed what I thought was a high flying plane between some clouds.
The summary continued: “I discounted this straight away as it had no wings and I had a clear view, it was a silvery ball, I then noticed another object to the south of the first that looked exactly the same, they seemed to be stable and hovering.”
“The first ball then seemed to flash a dark section of its exterior to the other ball, then a few seconds later it did the same thing back to the first ball. I then ran into the house to grab my phone to make a video, but I cannot see them on the video.”
Winsford – 2015
Just off Whitegate Road in Winsford, an oval shape was reported to be spotted at over 500 feet altitude in September 2015 which was said to be an unexplainable object.
“My wife called me out to the back garden and showed me a rainbow very high in the sky. I took several photos, upon looking at the images the rainbow seemed to be upside down and very high in the sky, more above us than to one side,” the summary read.
“When we zoomed in on the image on the pc we could see an object which we couldn’t explain. We have seen this type of picture or video online, we thought our images looked quite similar.”
Two black triangles sightings were also reported in the area in 2015 and 2019.
