BARONS Quay is launching a photography competition to help capture Northwich life in 2021 for its fifth birthday Time Capsule.
Picture Northwich is asking residents to submit their photos showing life in the town for a chance to be part of an exhibition and feature in a photo album that will go into the Barons Quay Time Capsule.
The Time Capsule will be buried later this year to mark the shopping centre’s fifth year milestone and will not be opened until 2051.
Local photographer Brian Jenkins and Barons Quay Centre Manager, Lina Higuita will judge the entries, selecting the best 20 images to go into the commemorative album.
Of the 20 selected images, the judges will choose their favourite to win a £50 gift card as well as featuring on the cover of the album.
For younger talent there is an under 16 category, with at least two images being selected from this age group to be included in the album.
The deadline for entries is 12pm on July 16 2021 and the winners will be announced by the July 23 2021.
The judges have asked people to capture things in their locality that reflect everyday life in the town. It could be their local park, cafe, neighbours, well-known landmarks, a community project or simply the street or road that they live on.
Professional photographer and judge Brian Jenkins said: "Northwich has a wealth of unique locations and scenes looking to be captured.
"To get a different perspective of a scene you like, perhaps try changing the time of day you take your pictures, for example at sunset or sunrise, or try street photography in the rain or fog.
"Do not be shy, get close to your subject and fill the frame.
"Also look at the picture and see if your eyes are following a path through it and drawing you in."
Centre Manager Lina Higuita said: "We hope that there are some budding photographers out there who can help us to create some visual content for our Time Capsule album.
"We want people in 2051 to be able to picture what life was like in the town - the good and the bad of this strange time we are currently living in.
"The winners will not only be part of our historic project, they will also see their work on display at the centre as part of an exhibition showing the contents of the capsule."
Photographs can be landscape or portrait but all entries should be in full colour. To take part, images should be posted on social media using #PictureNorthwich naming the location featured and tagging in @baronsquay on Facebook or Instagram, @barons_quay on Twitter.
