THE MOTHER of a Barnton family has expressed her overwhelming gratitude for support they have received after a devastating fire at her house on Monday.
A tumble dryer set the house on fire around 10.30 am and Melissa Bowyer, as well as her nine-year-old son and their cat were in the house at the time.
“It was absolutely devastating because we only moved in in September last year, so we had just done it all up.
“To see everything you’ve worked for go up in flames, it’s just absolutely devastating. A lot of shock and unfortunately our nine-year-old little boy was there, so he witnessed all of it which was heart-breaking.”
All her contents of her home have been ruined, and her friend Jade Furness set up a GoFundMe page to help Melissa furnish her home following the fire.
It has raised over £2,000 within a day and Melissa cannot thank the community enough.
Her family are moving to the Travelodge in Middlewich in the meantime.
“It’s massive. We are so lucky, overwhelmed and grateful. We literally can’t believe it. It’s amazing that a community can bring so much joy from something so bad and support people.
“The fact that we know there’s still a community out there, considering everything that is going on in the world, it’s amazing.”
