POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked in Cheshire when he accidentally bumped into another man.
The 29-year-old victim had been walking along Alton Street in Crewe at 12.20am on Bank Holiday Monday when the incident occurred.
He began making his way towards Walthall Street but the man he bumped into grabbed him and assaulted him, leaving him needing hospital treatment.
The offender is described as being around 5’ 6” tall, of slim build and a tanned complexion with dark hair.
At the time of the incident he was wearing jeans and a khaki top. He also spoke with an Eastern European accent.
Officers are now appealing for anyone with any information that could help with their investigation to get in touch.
Detective Constable Jayne Lloyd, of Cheshire Police, said: “This attack left the victim having to go to hospital for stitches to an injury to his ear.
“A number of enquiries are currently underway to find the person responsible and as part of those enquiries we would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or may have information that could help us with our enquiries to contact us.
“The same goes for anyone who may have CCTV footage from around the Alton Street and Walthall Street areas of Crewe.
“Any information no matter how big or small could help us find the male and bring him to justice.”
Anyone with information on the May 3 incident is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 978882 or report it via the police website.
