PLANS have been submitted to create a block of 24 apartments on vacant land in Winnington.
Lane End Developments Construction has applied to Cheshire West and Chester Council for planning permission to build the two-storey building at the junction of Walker Road and Whitby Drive.
The proposal includes a mix of 20 one-bed apartments and four two-bed apartments.
Each apartment will also have its own allocated parking space, with two spaces available for the two-bed units.
A design and access statement on behalf of the applicant said: “The proposal provides an opportunity to create a development of apartments on an infill site, within close proximity to local facilities including a community centre, nursery and convenience store.
“Careful consideration has been given to the relationship of the new proposals with the surrounding area.
“It is the intention to provide a positive ‘outward-looking’ development which would add to the surrounding street scenes.
“We feel that the scheme will have a positive impact in this area as a direct result of its design and appearance.
“The proposal will provide a high-quality development, creating much needed apartments for people wishing to live in the area affordably.
“The proposal will enhance the street scene and bring a function to a vacant site. This will have a positive effect on the wider community.”
A comment from the council’s highways team raised concerns over the lack of electrical vehicle charging points.
