TWO schoolgirls braved some awful Bank Holiday weather to raise money for charity.
Lily Howard and best friend Ava Nicholson didn't let the wind and rain stop them from holding a bake sale.
The 10-year-olds, both from Winnington, baked and sold more than 500 cupcakes, muffins, cookies and brownie bombs.
The pair are raising money for the Alzheimer's Society – a cause close to Lily's heart after she lost her great-grandmother and her grandad to the disease.
Proud mum Samantha Howard said the girls had now raised a total of £1,187 for the charity.
She added: "Despite the weather being miserable and the rain not letting up, the girls didn’t let it dampen their spirits and went ahead with their bake sale.
"They worked so hard and sold out of all their baked goods to raise a staggering £400.
"We are all so immensely proud of the girls and so grateful to the residents of Northwich who supported them.
"We'd like to say a special thank you to Sainsbury’s too who donated ingredients for their bake sale."
