MOTORISTS were stuck for hours on the M6 in Cheshire yesterday, Sunday.
The motorway was closed in both directions between junctions 19 and 18 for several hours following a collision between a HGV and a horsebox on the southbound carriageway.
No injuries were reported.
The horse, which had been trapped in the horsebox, was rescued and transferred to an equine hospital.
It is believed that it sadly died.
The motorway closure caused severe delays and heavy traffic on surrounding roads.
Motorists who had been travelling northbound close to junction 18 were instructed to turn around and exit the motorway by going back up the slip road.
