A 23-YEAR-old is striving to complete 12 marathons in 12 months to raise money for a cancer charity which is close to his heart.
Jon Glover, a former pupil of The Grange School in Hartford, has so far raised more than £3,200 for Target Ovarian Cancer.
"Sadly, ovarian cancer is something I have become more familiar with due to my mum being diagnosed in July 2015," Jon said.
"In her case she had no symptoms and it was found only by chance following a random blood test.
"The strength which she has shown throughout the last five years is what inspired me to take on this challenge.
"The worries and struggles I will endure will be no match to what she, and others dealing with cancer, must go through.
"Hopefully by simply putting one foot in front of another I can raise both awareness of this awful disease, and vital funds towards research and desperately needed new treatments."
Jon, who is from Stanthorne, has completed two marathons so far, and will be running his third on the weekend of April 30.
"The first was in February and it was a simple loop around my house and I completed it in a little under four hours," Jon explained.
"The second was a cricket based marathon.
"It consisted of me running up and down the cricket pitch at Hartford Cricket Club in my full cricket gear - pads, helmet and bat in hand.
"It took me six hours to complete - 2098 runs - and I did so with the help of some of my other cricket mates from Bradburns Lane Oaks Cricket Club."
This club was set up by Jon and his friends last year.
