NORTHWICH MP Mike Amesbury has reacted to the news that Bratts will not be reopening its Northwich store.
Bratts of Northwich has been serving the community for more than 160 years but sadly, after an 'incredibly difficult year', the company announced yesterday, Tuesday, that it would be closing its doors for good.
It will continue to operate its store in Nantwich, which will now become the main base of operations.
Northwich MP Mike Amesbury said: "I was sad to learn that Bratts of Northwich will not be reopening when lockdown restrictions ease.
"The family-run department store is part of the fixtures and fittings having served the community for 160 years.
"As Northwich MP, I would like to thank the current owners, the Gray family, and their hard-working team for all they have done for the town.
"I understand these are unprecedented, challenging times due to the impact of the pandemic and compounded by the damage caused by the January floods during Storm Christoph.
"I gather the Nantwich store will continue to trade but hope all those affected by today’s sad announcement manage to find new sources of employment.
"Naturally, I wish them well."
