DELAMERE Forest is about to open its new luxury eco cabins which are surrounded by serene woodland.
Forest Holidays' 66 cabins will be available for stays from April 12 – in line with the government's 'road map' to ease Covid restrictions – and are set amid the Cheshire Plain spanning 2,400 acres of broadleaf and evergreen trees.
The holiday accommodation will encourage guests to 'immerse themselves in nature and connect with the natural world'.
As well as 'Hideaway' cabins made for two, spacious treehouses can accommodate up to 10 guests. There are also 'White Willow' premium cabins, exclusive to Delamere Forest, for very special occasions.
Close by are two natural playgrounds complete with mini cabin, play kitchen, parkour ropes and wobble bridges.
Guests can also uncover the secrets of the forest with 'Forest Ranger Adventures' – unique to Forest Holidays – or explore the woodland trails that surround their cabin on bikes and segways.
The cabins themselves have been built with the environment in mind using a technique which allowed them to be carefully assembled between the trees and for rainwater to drain naturally into the forest floor.
A 'micro pile system' which mimics a tree root system was used to ensure that 'nearby trees are unaffected and soil movement is minimalised'.
Forest Holidays has been working on the project over a year and it will create around 60 jobs and generate an estimated £2.4million a year for the local economy.
Bruce McKendrick, chief executive of Forest Holidays, said: “Given that tourism and hospitality has been one of the most significantly affected sectors during the pandemic, we are delighted to be offering a range of new, year-round full and part time job opportunities.
"We have now recruited 75 per cent of our team, with the majority living within 10 miles of Delamere Forest. Over 60 per cent of our new team were previously out of work or sadly made redundant due to coronavirus.
“As normality resumes in the months ahead, we look forward to playing our role in helping the local economy to recover and grow.
"Our year-round occupancy will allow us to make a stable contribution, with our visitors expected to generate an estimated £2.4 million annually for the local economy.”
