A NORTHWICH resident has been left fuming after a mindless motorist crashed into a wall outside his home and fled the scene.
Jason Boyle, who lives in Harrisons Place in the Castle area, was sat watching television at around 5pm on March 16 when he heard a loud bang from outside.
Mr Boyle got to his feet and looked out of the bathroom window of the second floor flat where he saw a navy blue car that had reversed into the boundary wall outside.
He said: "The car was still there but I noticed the driver was attempting to drive off.
"At that point I went back into the living room and got on the phone to the police.
"While I was on the phone to them I noticed he had actually parked up in the car park area and walked off."
Mr Boyle, who has lived in the same property for 21 years, went outside to see if he could see where the man had gone, but no sooner had he done that, the driver returned to the scene with a friend.
"The friend then got into the driver's side and they drove off," he explained.
"The lad even gave me a thumbs up as they did it."
Mr Boyle followed the car on foot, as he wanted to know where the driver lived, and was staggered when it pulled into a parking space no more than 100 yards away.
He went on: "At that point they both got out of the car and went into a house, where I presume he must live.
"Since the incident happened I have seen him a couple of times.
"I didn't say anything to him at the time or afterwards because knowing my luck I'd be the one to get arrested by the police.
"All the police have done so far is give me an incident number.
"I expected them to maybe come out and have a look at the damage or take a statement, but they haven't."
Mr Boyle took this photo of the damaged wall with pieces of the broken rear light visible.
The property Mr Boyle lives in is council-owned, as is the wall, and a member of Chester West and Cheshire was due to come out and inspect the damage on Thursday (March 25) afternoon.
Mr Boyle added: "I've got photo's of the car and of the damage.
"I'm just really annoyed about it because he knows what he did and made no attempt to do anything except leave the scene.
"He lives just 100 yards away too, so it's not like he's miles away and I won't ever see him again."
Mr Boyle said the incident was also witnessed by one of his neighbours, who despite sharing his anger about what happened, chose not to report it.
Cheshire Police confirmed they received a phone call at 5.45pm on March 16.
A spokesman said: "Police received a report of a car colliding with a garden wall in Harrisons Place, Northwich.
"The collision caused a crack in the wall.
"The driver parked his car and then walked off."
A spokesman for Cheshire West and Cheshire Council confirmed an inspection visit was taking place but was not in a position to add anything further at this stage.
