The First Minister of Wales stressed how people in England will not be able to holiday across the border when self-contained accommodation reopens this Easter.
In the latest changes to the Welsh lockdown – which was enforced back in December – Mark Drakeford gave an indication of how the nation will begin to unlock itself sector by sector.
Also, hairdressers and barbers will be able to operate again from March 15.
The non-essential retail sector will begin to reopen from March 22 and it is expected to fully reopen by April 12.
Mr Drakeford told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “Provided things continue to go in the right direction, we hope to be able to reopen self-contained accommodation for the Easter period.”
He added that he hoped tourism would be open to people outside of Wales by the summer if the coronavirus situation continued to improve.
“At Easter time, Welsh people will be able to travel for holidays over Easter within Wales, and to self-contained accommodation,” the Labour MS said.
“The rules in England will not permit that. The Prime Minister’s road map says that for the weeks after March 29, people should minimise travel, there are to be no holidays, and people won’t be allowed to stay away from home overnight.
“If it won’t be safe to stay overnight in England, then obviously it would not be safe for people to travel into Wales.”
