CHESHIRE boroughs have seen a rise in the number of new Covid-19 cases today, March 11.
Data from Public Health England shows that 89 new cases were recorded on Thursday, an increase of 56 compared to Wednesday's figure of 33.
Of these 89 cases, 57 were in Cheshire West, and 32 in Cheshire East.
It brings the total number of cases from the start of the pandemic in CWAC to 21,010, and 20,130 in Cheshire East.
The rises in new cases mean that Cheshire East’s 7-day rolling infection rate has only fallen by 0.5 today, down to 62.5 cases per 100,000 residents.
In Cheshire West, the rate has actually increased, by 1.5, to 62.1.
The news comes following two senior CWAC officials saying the overall fall in infection rates from early January is ‘fantastic’ but ‘more progress’ is needed.
Ian Ashworth, CWAC’s Director of Public Health, said: “We have seen a 30 per cent reduction in the previous week with infection rates which is fantastic — it’s great to see that.
“The rate has not been as low as this since September 24. It is really good and we want it to come down even more so.”
No coronavirus deaths in either borough were recorded today.
