OWNERS of a Northwich wellness and nutrition club have tested their own determination by completing a 'Goggins Challenge' over the weekend.
Couple John Fielding and Kay-Leigh Richardson, who run Nutrition at the Hangout recruited members of their group, Pete Peterson and Amy Griffiths, to join them in the challenge this weekend, running 48 miles over March 6 and 7.
The Goggins Challenge sees individuals run four miles every four hours over a 48 hour period and was created by and named after American ultra-runner and former US Navy SEAL, David Goggins, who uses the challenge to practice for his ultra-marathons and triathlons.
John, Kay-Leigh, Pete and Amy were supported at various stages of the weekend by other members of the club, including Louise Good.
John, who opened the business with partner Kay-Leigh back in 2019, said: "I really love running in my spare time.
"I’ve competed in various marathons and 10k's throughout recent years.
"Running doesn’t just help you keep fit physically, but helps with your mental health, helping to clear your mind and release feel good endorphins.
"But this challenge isn’t just about running, it’s about testing yourself mentally and we all wanted to prove to ourselves that we can do it.
"Running four miles isn’t too bad, but doing it every four hours for 48 hours is definitely a challenge, even for the most experienced of runners.
"We were so excited that some of our members ran along with Kay Leigh and me.
"Before Pete and Amy and began their journey at Nutrition Club they would have struggled to run four miles, but they managed to join us this weekend and tackle way more than that.
"Our aim at Nutrition at the Hangout is to help local people achieve their dream bodies by taking control of their nutrition.
"Whether this is by losing weight, gaining weight, toning their body or taking more control of an illness, we help them gain the knowledge and understanding to help their journey."
Pete Peterson lost six and a half stone over seven months with the help of Nutrition at the Hangout.
Pete Peterson, who completed the whole 48 mile challenge this weekend, was only able to do so due to his body transformation.
With the help of Nutrition at the Core, Pete lost six and a half stone, enabling him to become fitter and more physically active.
Amy added: "I joined Nutrition Club after a serious rugby injury, which left my spinal cord severely damaged.
"Thanks to Nutrition at the Hangout and Helen, my Guide, I have been able to rebuild my fitness levels and achieve a level of physical activity that the doctors warned me would not be possible.
"I am so proud that I have been able to join John, Kay Leigh & Pete in this challenge, which I was only able to do after taking control of my body with Nutrition club."
