NORTHWICH’S Krazy Races will now take place in June 2022, the Town Council has confirmed.
The event, which sees teams build soapboxes to complete a Verdin Park course, has been delayed by the uncertainty over Covid-19 lockdown easing.
Chris Shaw, Northwich Town Clerk, told a meeting of the council yesterday (March 1): “This event will be rescheduled. It was originally planned for June 2020, but now it [will go ahead] in June 2022.
“This event was discussed with the organisers and Cheshire West Council. We felt that reorganising for 2022 was the safest option.
“We want this to be the biggest and best event Northwich has ever put on and we feel that by doing this, we can still do that.”
The Krazy Races also have events scheduled across the West Midlands, with Northwich’s running set to be the first one of its kind in the North of England.
The brainchild of Sarah Belcher Events, Krazy Races says it ‘aims to deliver accessible, enjoyable and experiential events that create unique moments in time for our audiences that last a lifetime’.
Around 40-50 teams were expected to compete in the event, which will draw in thousands of spectators to the town, organisers say.
