CHESHIRE East and West have seen 51 new cases of coronavirus in the latest daily figures.
New data from Public Health England covers the 24-hour period up to 9am today, March 1, when there were 22 Covid-19 cases in Cheshire East and 29 in Cheshire West.
It takes Cheshire East’s total number of coronavirus cases to 19,771 since the pandemic started, while Cheshire West’s total now stands at 20,662 Covid-19 cases.
Infection rates continue to fall across both boroughs, with Cheshire East now seeing its lowest infection rate in more than three months.
It now stands at 89.8 per 100,000 people, following 345 Covid-19 cases in the seven days up to February 24.
That is lower than yesterday’s figure of 93.5 – which was the first time the number had dipped below 100 in more than three months.
It also compares to 117.4 one week earlier, 142.1 a fortnight ago, and is some way lower than the peak of 497.7 in the seven days up to January 4.
Meanwhile, Cheshire West’s infection rate is now at its lowest point since the seven days up to December 5.
It now stands at 100.6 per 100,000 people, following 345 Covid-19 cases in the seven days up to February 24.
That compares to 108.4 in yesterday’s figures, 128.8 a week ago, 157.4 a fortnight ago and the borough’s peak of 625.8 in the seven days up to January 4.
