POSITIVE cases for Covid returned to three figures again across Cheshire East and West, after yesterday's figures were the lowest since November.
New figures from Public Health England cover the 24-hour period up to 9am today, February 24.
In that time, there were 46 new cases in Cheshire East and 67 in Cheshire West, which represents a total of 113 across both boroughs.
That takes Cheshire East’s total number of Covid-19 cases to 19,546 since the pandemic began, while Cheshire West has seen 20,451.
Although the number of positive case results does tend to jump up and down on a daily basis, the overall theme across both boroughs during the past month has seen a gradual reduction in the rate of infection.
Cheshire East's rate now stands at 107.8 per 100,000, with 414 reported cases in the seven days up until February 19.
That is lower than what it was yesterday (110.4) and this time last week when it was 125 and on the same day in January when it was two and a half times higher at 299.9.
In Cheshire West, the rate is now 122.7 per 100,000 after 421 new cases were reported across the last seven days until February 19.
Yesterday's figure saw a slight spike (130) with the infection rate now seemingly carrying on its downward trajectory, as it was 141.4 a week ago and more than three times higher 388.5 back on January 19.
