A NORTHWICH swimming school is getting ready to make a splash as work gets under way for a new pool in the town centre.
Building work has started on the new Puddle Ducks pool at Barons Quay, and franchise manager for mid Cheshire, Rachel Bateson has shared the first pictures of the new centre.
She said: “Amongst all of the uncertainty, we are so excited that our new pool at Barons Quay is progressing well and we are still planning to open later this year.
“The pool is in, the mezzanine built and the underfloor heating is all laid - we just can’t wait to open. It really is something for us to look forward to.”
Like so many other businesses, plans for the state-of-the-art flagship swimming centre were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Rachel says the local community has been very supportive and there is already a growing list of prospective customers.
She added: “It’s really exciting that the build has started, we can really see the potential and the amount of interest in what’s happening has been huge – we had lots of enquiries over the weekend since we updated people on the build.
“Obviously, it’s been a little frustrating that things were a little delayed because we’ve been planning this for a long time, but we’re just really looking forward to welcoming new and former customers. We just want to get people back in the pool!”
As well as catering to the specific requirements of babies and children from nought to 10, the new pool will also become a national teacher training centre.
Rachel added: “We have swum in Northwich for years so it’s really close to our hearts, in fact the very first Puddle Ducks classes took place in Northwich back in 2002, so it is fitting that the franchise is opening a flagship pool in Northwich town centre.”
