A ROAD had to be blocked by police on Sunday after a fallen telegraph pole led to a fire in Great Budworth.
Two fire engines from Northwich and Lymm were sent out to Budworth Lane shortly before noon on February 14 following reports of an outdoor fire.
On arrival, crews discovered that a telegraph pole had fallen onto a field at the side of a domestic property.
The fire caused by the incident was approximately five square metres in size.
Cordons were set up and the road was blocked by the police, while the electricity supply to the telegraph pole was isolated by utility company engineers.
Once that had been done firefighters extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet before handing the incident over to the engineers.

The fire did not spread to the domestic property.
Firefighters were in attendance for around two-and-a-half hours.
