CHILDREN'S cancer charity The Joshua Tree has been overwhelmed by generosity as it works to complete its new support centre.

Construction materials firm Tarmac and the Cheshire Freemasons have both made a considerable donation towards the new centre, in Sandiway.

The cash boost comes at a welcome time for the charity, which works with families affected by childhood cancers, following a year without major fundraising events due to coronavirus.

Piers McLeish, chief executive at The Joshua Tree, said: "We really are incredibly grateful to Tarmac and the Cheshire Freemasons for their enormous generosity and support in helping us complete the new centre.

"Having the access road and car park ready to safely welcome families to the new centre is the final major element in the completion of the new centre."

Tarmac and its suppliers pulled together to install a new car park and access road, with the Cheshire Freemasons also making a financial contribution towards the work.

Peter Hyde, highways services director at Tarmac, said: “We are delighted we could be of assistance to this fantastic cause.

"The Joshua Tree is a charity which recognises every family’s cancer journey is unique, and not only works with the children themselves but the whole family too.

"The overall assistance provided by the charity is truly invaluable, and we are very pleased we were able to provide some support in getting the project completed.”
