MORE than 100 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Cheshire East and West – while one borough has seen its infection rate increase for the second day running.
New figures from Public Health England cover the 24-hour period up to 9am today, February 9.
In that time, there were 43 new coronavirus cases in Cheshire East and 59 in Cheshire West, a total of 102.
It means Cheshire East has now seen 18,642 Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic, while there have been 19,509 in Cheshire West.
Today’s total of 102 across the two boroughs is higher than the figure announced on Monday, when there were 85 new coronavirus cases confirmed.
Meanwhile, Cheshire East has seen its seven-day infection rate increase for the second day in a row.
The borough’s rate is now 190 per 100,000 people, following 730 cases in the seven days up to February 4.
That is higher than yesterday’s figure of 183.8 per 100,000 people, but still lower than 197.8 per 100,000 people one week ago and 275.2 per 100,000 people a fortnight ago.
Cheshire West’s infection rate continues to fall, standing at 217.4 per 100,000 people following 746 Covid-19 cases in the seven days up to February 4, the borough’s lowest rate since December 19.
Today’s rate is lower than 223.6 per 100,000 people yesterday, 283.9 per 100,000 people one week ago, and 363.5 per 100,000 people a fortnight ago.
