A NEW Covid vaccination will launch at a Winsford supermarket tomorrow, January 28.
Morrisons announced earlier this month it would make 50 of its store car parks available for use as coronavirus vaccination hubs – with one of those set to be at the Wharton supermarket from tomorrow.
Clare Watson, chief officer at NHS Cheshire clinical commissioning group, confirmed the site was one of four new vaccination centres opening across the county tomorrow at a Cheshire West and Chester Council meeting this evening – along with new sites in Crewe, Chester and Alsager.
She told the council’s Covid-19 outbreak board: "It's really good progress. Everyone is working incredibly hard but also they're incredibly committed.
“We have really challenging deadlines but we are confident with the modelling and work we are doing that we will hit those.
"This is all dependent on the availability of the vaccine, but we are on track. Across the north west, we are now at one million people vaccinated."
David Potts, chief executive at Morrisons, said the assets of the company were ‘at the disposal of the country’ as the retailer announced the move on January 7.
Some residents from Cheshire will be invited to an appointment at the Morrisons vaccination clinic in Winsford, although they can wait for an invite to a site closer to home if they prefer.
In a post on Facebook, Danebridge Medical Practice in Northwich said the supermarket clinic would have a weekly capacity of 5,000 vaccinations.
