MORE than 350 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed across Cheshire East and West in the latest daily figures.
New data from Public Health England covers the 24-hour period up to 9am today, January 22.
In that time, there were 194 new cases in Cheshire West and 157 in Cheshire East, a total of 351.
It means that Cheshire West has now seen 17,401 Covid cases since the start of the pandemic, while there have been 16,824 in Cheshire East.
Meanwhile, the seven-day infection rates for the two boroughs continue to fall, as the lockdown measures have an effect on the number of positive cases.
In Cheshire West, the rate now stands at 408.4 per 100,000 people, following 1,401 cases in the week up to January 17.
That is a decline on the figure released yesterday of 421.5 per 100,000 people, the rate of 503.1 per 100,000 people one week ago and 597.3 per 100,000 people a fortnight earlier.
In Cheshire East, the rate now stands at 319.4 per 100,000 people, following 1,227 cases in the week up to January 17.
That is lower than 328.3 per 100,000 people in yesterday’s data, 385.3 per 100,000 people one week earlier and 433.5 per 100,000 people a fortnight ago.
Today’s infection rate is the lowest either borough has seen so far in 2021, following a surge in cases after Christmas.
