CHESHIRE is reeling from the devastating impact of Storm Christoph this evening.
A number of major roads are currently closed around Northwich, Knutsford and Wilmslow following severe flooding.
The following roads are closed in the Northwich area:
- Cogshall Lane, Comberbach
- Davenham Road, Rudheath
- Eaton Lane, Davenham
- Gorstage Lane, Weaverham
- Nursery Wood, Nursery Road, Barnton
- Ollershaw Lane, Marston
- Town Bridge and Northwich town centre
- Warrington Road, Acton Bridge
- Wincham Lane, Wincham
Meanwhile, the following roads are closed around Knutsford and Wilmslow:
- A56 between Lymm Road and the M56
- Lees Lane, Wilmslow
- Lymm Road, Little Bollington
- Peacock Lane, High Legh
- A50 to Holmes Chapel, Knutsford Road, Rode Heath
This list is not exhaustive, and smaller roads surrounding these major ones are also likely to be affected.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “During heavy rainfall, avoid driving unless it is essential.
“If you do have to travel, switch your headlights on and do not attempt to drive through floodwater – it only takes a small amount of water to seriously damage your engine, and put yourself or others at risk.
“If you need us in an emergency, please call 999.”
