A BARNTON man who was stopped driving his car in lockdown shortly before 2am was found to be more than twice the legal drink drive limit.
Officers pulled over the 38-year-old on the A533 Kingsmead at 1.58am today, January 18, to ask why he was driving his red Peugeot 207 at that time during the current Covid lockdown.
But after failing a roadside breath test, he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
In a post on Facebook, a Northwich Police spokesman said: “If you’re going to draw attention to yourself by driving your vehicle at 2am during a national lockdown... when you get stopped by the police (which is highly likely) try not to be twice over the drink drive limit. One in custody.”

The driver is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.
