ANOTHER 428 Covid cases have been confirmed in Cheshire East and West as the boroughs see their infection rates slowly head in the right direction.
New figures have been published by Public Health England covering the 24-hour period up to 9am today, January 15.
In Cheshire West, there were 235 cases in that time, while there were 193 in Cheshire East.
It takes the total number of Covid cases since the pandemic started to 16,078 in Cheshire West and 15,700 in Cheshire East.
The latest seven-day infection rates make for more positive reading across the two boroughs than other figures from recent weeks.
Rates have fallen in the data published by Public Health England every day this week, apart from a blip on Wednesday.
In Cheshire West, the rate now stands at 501.9 per 100,000 people, following 1,722 cases in the week up to January 10.
That is lower than the figure of 597.3 per 100,000 people from exactly one week earlier, but still far higher than the rate of 306.1 per 100,000 people from a fortnight ago.
In Cheshire East, the figure is 384.2 per 100,000 people following 1,476 cases in the week up to January 10, compared to 473.5 per 100,000 people one week earlier and 274.9 per 100,000 people a fortnight ago.
