FLOODING has hit parts of Northwich following this week’s heavy rain.
Areas surrounding the River Weaver were put on alert by the Environment Agency on Thursday, while Guardian readers have submitted pictures and videos of high river levels across town.
Eyewitnesses have reported flooding near to Waitrose and Northwich Marina this morning, January 15, where the Environment Agency updated its alert to a red flood warning late last night.
A spokesman said: “River levels are rising at the Hayhurst Bridge river gauge as a result of persistent rainfall.
“We believe there is a possibility of flooding for Northwich Marina and Butcher and Barlow Solicitors.
“Please be aware of your surroundings and keep up to date with the current situation.”
Guardian readers have sent in images of high water levels from Thursday as the town was warned to prepare for flooding.
Holmes Chapel Road was closed in Lach Dennis last night due to flooding, close to the Three Greyhounds, while eyewitnesses also reported flooding near Shakerley Mere.
