MORE ice and possibly snow could be on the way in Cheshire this evening.
The Met Office has issued another yellow weather warning for the north west region, with those venturing out urged to take care.
Icy stretches are likely to form between 5pm today, Thursday, and 11.59pm tomorrow, leading to slippery conditions and potentially some disruption to travel.
The service is warning of icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, carrying the risk of injury from slips and falls.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Showers, a mixture of rain, sleet and snow, are expected to fall onto frozen surfaces leading to icy stretches forming.
“In addition, a more persistent spell of rain and hill snow is likely to spread south across northern England and north Wales during Thursday evening and night.
“While ice is expected to be the main hazard, snow is likely in places too. Snow is most likely to fall over The Pennines, North York Moors and the high ground of Wales, with 1-3cm possible here.
“Elsewhere, while some snowfall is possible, accumulations are likely to be slight and temporary.
“Freezing fog patches are also likely to persist and may prove an additional hazard with areas of visibility less than 100m at times.”
