THE trust that runs Leighton Hospital has confirmed that seven of its coronavirus patients have died.
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust reported all seven deaths in figures published today, January 6.
Four of the deaths took place on Monday, January 4, while there were also deaths that took place on December 26, 28 and 31.
There have now been 336 deaths reported by Leighton Hospital’s trust since the pandemic began – with 25 of these being reported in the past week.
The number of deaths at the hospital trust have been increasing since early November, following the initial surge of Covid cases in the second wave.
Meanwhile, four more Covid patients have died at the Countess of Chester, with the trust’s total number of deaths now standing at 374.
One death from coronavirus has also been confirmed at Macclesfield Hospital’s trust today, with East Cheshire NHS Trust reporting the death took place on Sunday, January 3.
A total of 674 deaths were reported at England’s NHS hospitals today, including 72 in the north west.
Their families have been informed.
