CHESTER Zoo has issued an update after the borough was placed into Tier 4 Covid-19 restrictions from today (December 31).
The popular attraction can remain open under the toughest measures – but visitor numbers are limited and only those living in the area are eligible to go.
The zoo said: "From Thursday 31 December we will be entering into the Government's Tier 4 restrictions, but you CAN still visit the zoo and enjoy our 128 acres of zoological gardens."
It added:
- The zoo is open (please travel within your area).
- Visitor numbers are limited.
- Visitors must pre-book tickets via our website – members will not need to book from 4 January.
- Only visit the zoo with your household (or support bubble).
- All indoor animal houses will be closed – but many of our 35,000 animals can be seen outside.
- Outdoor play areas will remain open.
- Our cafés and food kiosks will only offer takeaway service – feel free to bring a picnic.
- Gift shops will be closed – but you can order online and collect at the zoo.
- The Oakfield pub will remain closed.
If you live outside of the local area and have a visit planned then the zoo will transfer your booking to another date, up to April 30 next year 2021.
