A VILLAGER whose window displays have made his community smile for more than a decade has been recognised for his creative efforts.
Raymond Harrison has been decorating the front window of his Barnton home for 15 years with a host of different themes.
The 73-year-old has now been rewarded with community award from Barnton Parish Council following his efforts throughout a difficult year in the pandemic.
"It just started when I bought a couple of tiger heads from the market and decided to put them in the window," he told the Guardian.
"I have counted 17 different displays that I have put in now – Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, Easter, cowboys, dogs, snakes, all sorts.
"I thought that it looks better than just having a vase of flowers there all the time.
"I've had a lot of positive remarks about the display and it is nice to be appreciated like this."
The award was presented to Raymond by Cllr Linda Mayers, chairman of Barnton Parish Council.

She said: "We would like to thank Raymond for all his dedication and enthusiasm in putting together window displays at his home for every occasion throughout the year for all the village to enjoy.
"It brings much pleasure to the villagers and puts a smile of joy on lots of faces, more so in the times we are currently finding ourselves in."
