IT was a rare moment of joy in an otherwise difficult year.
The 75th anniversary of VE Day – when the Second World War came to an end in Europe – gave the perfect excuse to come together in a socially-distanced way.
Garden parties were held across Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich, as neighbours raised each others' spirits in glorious sunshine last May 8.
While lockdown meant the celebrations looked different, there were still smiles and bunting all around, while households dressed up and sung along to wartime classics on a day to celebrate.
