PUPILS at a Northwich school have been praised for showing the true spirit of Christmas by helping those in need.
The children from Hartford Primary School teamed up with Helping Hands (Northwich in Need) to hold a 'reverse advent' campaign where food items were donated each day.
Daniel Pendlebury, joint founder of Helping Hands said: "By teaming up with Helping hands Northwich in need as they have done in previous years yet again those is desperate need this Christmas will be able to obtain a food parcel through the helping hands page.
"We already have a list of vulnerable people that we assist and continue to do so since we closed Northwich isolation support.
"The most important part of all this is that the donations have come through children talking to their parents so not only is this community spirited it is educational for the children and teaches them the importance of helping others."
He went on to add how important this time of year was for the community and how acts of kindness like this can only benefit.
"This once again helps our most vulnerable in society whilst also educating young and old alike about the importance of community spirit," he said.
"This truly is a magical time of the year.
"2020 has been a terrible year for everyone but when you see the actions of children who support community action groups like ourselves it keeps it local and brings whole communities back together."
